Inchmurrin is made at Loch Lomond Distillery. Loch Lomond is a Lowland Distillery which was founded in 1965. Inchmurrin is made at Loch Lomond Distillery. Loch Lomond is a Lowland Distillery which was founded in 1965. The distillery is situated in a converted dye works in the town of Alexandria, which is located just outside Glasgow. Named after the infamous nearby loch, it was founded by the owners of the now closed Littlemill Distillery, which was just down the road towards Glasgow, as they wanted to expand. Loch Lomond creates a range of different single single malt as well as single grain whiskies (both of which come in peated and un-peated varieties). The distillery utilises several different styles of stills to create their wide range of scotch whiskies.
Loch Lomond's Master Blender, Michael Henry, brings together Inchmurrin 12-year-old single malt whisky, celebrating Loch Lomond's orchard fruit character. He skillfully uses spirit from the remarkable Straight Neck stills and ages it in selected American Oak casks, consequently imparting a much sweeter and more mellow taste.
Inchmurrin 12 year old shows off the fruit and sweet elements of the distillery's signature style, with delightful notes of peach and apricot, before following on to toffee and vanilla on the finish.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Distinctively fruity with pear drops and toffee sweetness. Moreover, there are light notes of freshly cut hay in summer sun.
Taste - Seville orange citrus notes build in intensity before mellowing into peach and apricot. The fruit character also gives way to creamy fudge and vanilla.
Finish - Medium in length with peppery finish.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
