Redbreast is a renowned Irish whiskey brand with a history dating back to the early 20th century. The Gilbey family, who were wine and spirits merchants in Dublin, introduced the brand in 1912. The whiskey was originally supplied by the Jameson distillery.
Redbreast gained popularity for its unique character and commitment to using a high proportion of malted barley in its production, distinguishing it as a single pot still whiskey. This traditional method involves both malted and unmalted barley and is distinctive to Irish whiskey. Over the years, the company has faced challenges such as economic downturns and changes in the whiskey industry. In the mid-20th century, as the Irish whiskey market declined, the Redbreast brand, along with many others, struggled.
In the late 20th century, however, there was a revival of interest in traditional Irish whiskey styles, and Redbreast experienced a resurgence. Today, Redbreast is produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, part of the Irish Distillers Group.
Redbreast Lustau Edition is initially matured in traditional bourbon and sherry casks for a period of 9-12 years. It is then finished for 1 additional year in first fill hand selected sherry butts that have been seasoned with the finest Oloroso sherry from the prestigious Bodegas Lustau in Jerez.

Nose - Rich infusion of dark fruits, prunes, dates and figs with liquorice, marzipan, toasted oak and aromatic spices.
Taste - Silky smooth Pot Still; assertive spices balanced with richness of the sherry finish and contribution of fresh Spanish Oak.
Finish - Endless. Sweetness and assorted spices endure while Oloroso Sherry and Spanish Oak have the last word.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
