The distillery carries out a long fermentation process and distills the whisky in a Lomond still - a still known for producing a fruitier spirit. It then matures in ex-American Oak Casks, stored in warehouses on Orkney. These production methods aim to reflect the environmental and cultural influences of the island in the character of the whisky.
Scapa 10 Years Old is a sophisticated dram, with subtle notes of fresh tropical fruits. A true expression of the character of Scapa Single Malts.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Notes of fresh slices of pineapple and mango ice cream lead into notes of moreish crème brûlée, honey topped pancakes and cinnamon buns with a hint of citrus peel.
Palate - Notes of apple stewed with warming spices and served with vanilla custard pairs with light notes of banana, charred oak, and milk chocolate.
Finish - Fruity and spiced.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
