Shetland Reel comes from the most northerly distillery in the United Kingdom - Saxa Vord Distillery on the Island of Unst. Unst, the UK's most northerly inhabited island, is only reachable by ferry from the Shetland mainland. The distillery, located on the site of a former RAF base, has transformed into a distillery producing malt whisky and gin.
Stuart and Wilma Nickerson, along with Frank and Debbie Stran, established The Shetland Distilling Company. They share a passion for producing top quality products in local communities and to also create the finest expressions of these products, in the distillery on Unst.
The makers of Shetland Reel gin carefully select local botanicals to craft their distinctive flavour. Influenced from the seas that surround the island, Ocean Sent
Gin features native bladderwrack. The distinctive and nutritious seaweed is gathered from the rocks of the Shetland coastline and distilled to a unique recipe resulting in a surprising depth of flavour from the shores of Unst.
Official Tasting Notes
The nose has traditional juniper with subtle hints of salt and spice. The palate holds traditional London dry juniper but with a complex twist of saltiness and warmth. The finish is long and brings you right to the crashing ocean!
