Originally named “Maghellan”, Macallan was among the first distillers in Scotland to obtain legal licensing. They've built their reputation on a product of outstanding quality and distinctive character. The distillery has a capacity of 15,000,000 litres produced by its 36 stills. Edrington currently owns Macallan, having acquired it from Highland Distillers in 1999.
The Macallan Harmony Collection is a limited annual release that explores their future packaging journey. Each release uses distinctive, innovative packaging that repurposes end-of-life natural materials, giving them a new purpose.
This bottling is inspired by JING's Phoenix Honey Orchid, a complex tea with lush dessert wine aromas and exotic fruit notes. Matured predominantly in sherry seasoned American Oak casks, the spirit's balanced by the use of sherry seasoned European oak. There's also a subtle inclusion of casks that previously held Bourbon, offers a pleasing roasted richness.
In homage to the world of tea, waste tea leaves deemed unsuitable for consumption have been incorporated in the paper to create this presentation box.
Official Tasting Notes
Colour - Warm honey.
Nose - Summery peach and apricot with the heady sweetness of floral honey all intertwined with tropical fruits, toffee and sweet oak.
Palate - Fresh peached in rich syrup, warm citrus and toffee, light floral notes leading to a delicate leafy astringency.
Finish - Fruity, sweet and complex.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
