White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 and is located in Ambergate, Derbyshire. The brainchild of Max and Claire Vaughan, it is Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery, with a proud focus on the unique Derbyshire provenance and heritage. The building itself was an old wire works and is now part of a UNESCO world heritage site. They released their first single malt whisky in 2022. In addition to this, they produce Shining Cliff gin, a cask-aged rum, and the 1876 Single Malt Cocktail, all of which they mature, bottle, and label on site. As our closest distillery, we are proud to have been a supporter of White Peak since they were first established.
White Peak's lightly-peated spirit has undergone a dual maturation to create this Wire Works Amarone Wine bottling. The whisky first matures in ex-Bourbon Barrels, then finishes in first-fill Amarone Wine Barriques - a development in the distillery’s recent wine series. A rich, sweet, and fruity single malt whisky, with a spicy and smoky backbone.

Chocolate, blackcurrant & strawberry jam, cinnamon buns.
Nose - Strawberry laces, furniture polish, orange oil, candied ginger, wine gums, caramel fondant.
Palate - Blackcurrant cordial, sultanas, liquorice, maraschino cherries, clove, cinnamon, milk chocolate, condensed milk, cranberries.
Finish - Dark chocolate, icing sugar, chilli flakes, freshly roasted coffee, strawberry jam.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
