White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 and is located in Ambergate, Derbyshire. The brainchild of Max and Claire Vaughan, it is Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery, with a proud focus on the unique Derbyshire provenance and heritage. The building itself was an old wire works and is now part of a UNESCO world heritage site. They released their first single malt whisky in 2022. In addition to this, they produce Shining Cliff gin, a cask-aged rum, and the 1876 Single Malt Cocktail, all of which they mature, bottle, and label on site. As our closest distillery, we are proud to have been a supporter of White Peak since they were first established.
Wire Works Caduro X has been released to mark the 10th anniversary of White Peak. Like its namesake Caduro, this is a vatting of first fill ex-Bourbon barrels and their signature STR casks.
The whisky-making behind Caduro X showcases WPD's commitment to innovation. For this release, they've worked with both their 'regular-cuts' and 'alt-cuts' single malts, using the alternate distillation cut-points to lean into a bright profile, carrying a tropical fruit character and a subtle uptick in peat. To add further depth, they've used 'Special Waters' to proof the whisky down to 46.8% ABV. A limited edition release of 1000 bottles.
Official Tasting Notes
Rich, sweet and spicy. Full of orchard and tropical fruits, toffee and chocolate, and a gentle thread of smoke throughout.
Nose - Banoffee pie, egg custard tarts, murray mints, a hint of peat, wine gums, wood spice, baked apple, strawberry laces, orange zest.
Palate - Cinnamon rolls, butter icing, pineapple cubes, milk chocolate, yoghurt coated cranberries, marmalade, gentle tannins, nutmeg.
Finish - Cinder toffee, candied ginger, cinnamon balls, honey, apple sours, gentle wood smoke.
Limited to 2 bottles per customer.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
