Glenfiddich Distillery was established in 1886 by William Grant. With the help of his nine children and a single stonemason, William built the distillery by hand. He used second hand stills purchased from Cardhu Distillery, and, during the project, continued to work at his day job - Distillery Manager at Mortlach Distillery. Constantly innovating and evolving, Glenfiddich became the first distillery to open a visitor centre in 1969. In 1991, they released the first 50 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Today, Glenfiddich remains a family-owned business, operated by the fifth generation of William Grant's descendant. It continues to be one of the best selling Single Malt Scotch Whiskies in the world.
Patiently mellowed for 21 years in Scotland, Glenfiddich's Gran Reserva starts quiet and restrained, but also rich, with a defiant Glenfiddich Distillery DNA. Only when it has reached absolute perfection does it get its time to shine. Finished in Caribbean Reserva Rum Casks to add sharp ginger, sultry fig and uplifting lime notes that build to a crescendo of sweet toffee and spicy exotic warmth.

Colour - Dark gold.
Nose - Intense and vanilla sweet. Floral, hints of banana, figs, rich toffee, new leather and oak.
Taste - Initially soft, then brisk, vibrant and drying, peppery, a touch of smoke, oak, lime, ginger and spices.
Finish - Very long, warming, dry and spicy.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
