Light golden in colour with a sweet tar, smoky, woodish nose. Immediate strong peat flavours with lingering and nuanced fruit undertones which survive the peat storm. A hint of liquorice comes through on the palate as the peat gently mellows awaiting your next sip. Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Sweet, smoky, and woody. The whiskey presents aromas of caramelised oak, woody cinnamon, honey-roasted ham, and rock salt. However, a unique character emerges as a wave of peat smoke immediately follows.
Palate - On the palate, the whiskey has strong peat flavours with undertones of fruit and a hint of liquorice. The initial taste is of smoked nuts and barbecued meats, which then gives way to charred herbs and a fresh fruit sweetness. The flavour profile is then completed by a building chilli spice that intensifies as you drink.
Finish - The finish is long and satisfying, with notes of charred chilli pepper and bonfire smoke lingering on the tongue.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
