Loch Lomond is a Lowland Distillery which was founded in 1965, situated in a converted dye works in the town of Alexandria, which is located just outside Glasgow. Named after the infamous nearby loch, it was founded by the owners of the now closed Littlemill Distillery, which was just down the road towards Glasgow, as they wanted to expand. Loch Lomond creates a range of different single single malt as well as single grain whiskies (both of which come in peated and un-peated varieties). The distillery utilises several different styles of stills to create their wide range of scotch whiskies.
They use an unusual still to make this whisky called a Lomond Still. They are Copper Stills but instead of a "swan neck" style top they have rectifying column style tops, It produces a purer lighter spirit. Their whiskies are matured in three types of cask, bourbon, refill and recharged.
Aged for 18 years in the finest oak barrels. This award-winning malt possesses a full-bodied and rounded profile, brimming with a deep fruity character. With wonderful sweetness and warmth intertwined with a hint of smoke. Loch Lomond 18 Year Old is a rich and elegant single malt Scotch.

Nose - Green apple and grapefruit aromas fuse before honeysuckle and mature oak character comes through.
Taste - Elegant wood notes of toasted oak and cigar box become green fruits with apple and gooseberry.
Finish - Long finish with dried tea and tobacco leaf in balance with soft medicinal peatiness and wood smoke.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
