Originally known as Braes of Glenlivet Distillery, Braeval Distillery stands in Chapeltown, Banffshire, in Scotland’s
Speyside region. Built in 1973 by Chivas Brothers to supply malts for blends, the decision to change the name to Braeval came in 1994, to avoid any confusion with the nearby Glenlivet Distillery. Chivas Brothers still owns the distillery today, operating as a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard.
Hunter Laing is a family-owned independent bottler of Scotch whisky, based in Glasgow. Founded in 2013 by Stewart Laing and his sons, Andrew and Scott, the company specialises in selecting and bottling rare and high-quality single malt and blended Scotch whiskies. The company also owns and operates Islay's newest distillery, Ardnahoe, who's inaugural release came in 2024.
Old Malt Cask, a respected name in the single cask Scotch whisky market for over 20 years, caters to connoisseurs seeking the finest single malts. Each month, Hunter Laing’s tasting panel selects only the highest-quality casks from regions across Scotland, bottling them at the perfect moment to capture their distinct character. Typically bottled at 50% ABV and non-chillfiltered to preserve authenticity.
This Braeval bottling was distilled in May 2009, and bottled at 14 years old. The spirit matured in a Refill Butt (HL21311), producing 577 bottles.
