Lochlea are very proud that Robert Burns called Lochlea his home from 1777 until his father’s death in 1784. By day, Burns worked hard on the farm and in the evening, he enjoyed the company of his friends, debating at the Bachelors’ Club in nearby Tarbolton. The ground there has inspired the honest, passionate, and progressive nature of Lochlea whisky.
Lochlea’s Red Wine Cask expressions will sit alongside the Single Estate core range of single malts, a permanent collection reflecting their commitment to quality, provenance, and character. They intend to release a Red Wine Cask bottling annually, with each year bringing a different expression of red wine. For this first release, the whisky matured in 1st-fill Bourbon barrels, before being finished in carefully selected Grenache casks.
The result is a bright, fruit-forward whisky. Bursting with summer berries, strawberry shortcake, and sweet vanilla, finishing with spiced biscuits and rich oak. This first edition sets the tone for a vibrant and evolving series of red wine cask finishes.
