Glencadam Distillery is situated in the ancient city of Brechin, Angus, just west of Montrose. Founded in 1825 by George Cooper, the distillery has changed hands numerous times over the years. Angus Dundee Distillers, a small independent distilling company, currently owns it.
The distillery prides themselves on still producing Single Malt Scotch Whisky using the same traditional and handcrafted production methods as it has done for almost 200 years. Unusually, Glencadam’s stills have lyne arms that run upwards at an angle of 15 degrees. This process promotes substantial reflux, contributing to the creation of a single malt known for its distinctive tropical and orchard fruit flavours. The distillery has always made a light floral, delicate whisky.
To create this limited edition whisky, the Master Distiller selected Glencadam single malt distilled in 2008 and matured in exceptional ex-Bourbon American Oak casks. The team expertly married the single malt from these casks, then finished it in Portuguese Madeira casks.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Inviting aromas of butterscotch and ginger biscuits. Mingled with caramelised pecans, dried pineapple and baking spices.
Palate - Mouth coating layers of peach cobbler, golden syrup and créme caramel married with toasted walnuts, praline and candied peels.
Finish - Impressions of brandy butter, honey cake and salted caramel leaving a dark chocolate and cinnamon glow.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
