The River Spey flows through Speyside, a region known for its concentration of whisky distilleries and as a habitat for the osprey. Once absent from the area for several decades, ospreys have successfully re-established themselves and are now a regular presence. Osprey Single Malt Scotch Whisky takes its name from the bird and is intended to reflect qualities associated with it. The team selects specific casks to create a range that represents the character and quality of Scotch whisky.
This edition of Osprey uses spirit from Glentauchers Distillery. Located on the A95 between Dufftown and Keith, Glentauchers Distillery rarely releases its single malt officially, which keeps it relatively lesser known. Founded in 1897 by James Buchanan and W. P. Lowrie, and designed by Charles Doig, the distillery was built to supply malt whisky for blends. After becoming part of DCL in 1936, it continued mainly producing for blends. They mothballed the distillery in 1985, Allied Distillers reopened it in 1989, and it now operates under Pernod Ricard as part of Chivas Brothers.
Made in shimmering copper stills, this Glentauchers bottling matured for 15 years in classic Bourbon barrels. Waves of tropical fruit and honey linger in this single malt, while fresh pastry, creamy malt and citrus flow in harmony with every sweet and satisfying sip.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
