Bushmills continues to produce whiskey over 400 years later, thanks to the generations that have skillfully passed down their experience and craft.
The company was established in 1784 by Hugh Anderson, and over the years it has changed hands several times. Diageo, the largest alcoholic drinks company in the world took over in 2005. They maintained ownership until 2014, when Proximo Spirits took up ownership. As well as producing blends, Bushmills also distill single malt Irish whiskey using their copper pot stills.
The Bushmills Original recipe dates back to before prohibition. Combining the Bushmills single malt whiskey and a lighter grain whiskey, you’ll notice its rich, smooth warming taste almost instantly, just as generations have done before.
The cornerstone of the family, Bushmills Original is a smooth and versatile, triple distilled, classic Irish blend. An approachable whiskey which has been matured in both bourbon and sherry casks resulting in sweet notes of honey and vanilla, bursting with fresh fruit.

Nose - On the nose, there's a light fruity aroma, vanilla notes and a hint of crème brûlée.
Palate - A gentle warming mouth coating, a multi texture with a touch of honey sweetness.
Finish - A crisp, fresh finish with a touch of spice

1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
