Connemara undoubtedly stands out among Irish whiskeys as the sole widely available
Irish Peated Single Malt Whiskey today. Inspired by the 18th century art of drying malting barley over peat fires, this Irish single malt whiskey possesses a distinct peaty flavour and aroma, instilling a delicate smokiness and smooth, sweet taste. Its complex peat flavours and smooth, sweet malt taste make it a truly unique Irish whiskey.
Connemara is a double-distilled bottling, as opposed to the more usual triple-distillation process that most Irish whiskeys undergo. This choice is made because the third distillation is believed to eliminate some of the flavour components. Connemara's ageing process takes place in Bourbon casks.
This is the Connemara Original. It has an aroma of sweet barley with wafts of peaty smoke, kippers and well-baked apple crumble. You'll find tastes of lightly honey sweet and subdued clean rather than sooty smoke, along with peaty vegetal notes, sweet barley water, light spice and vanilla oak.
