Filey Bay Single Malt Whisky is made at the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, situated at Hunmanby between Scarborough and Bridlington, not far from Filey. Launched in 2016, the distillery is a collaboration between farmer and brewer, David Thompson and Tom Mellor. Having been friends for several decades, the duo shared a dream of creating a Yorkshire whisky. But one that doesn’t just replicate Scotch.
With the help of renowned whisky expert Dr Jim Swan, David and Tom debuted Yorkshire's first ever single malt whisky - Filey Bay. Inspired by the bay that is in sight of the distillery, Filey Bay is an exciting addition to
English whisky. A true field to glass distillery, they use barley grown at their farm and distills their spirit on both copper pot and column stills.
Light, fruity and creamy, the Filey Bay Flagship single malt is made from field to bottle with 100% homegrown barley and is the culmination of their ex-Bourbon matured style (following on from the ‘First’ and ‘Second’ Releases). Spirit of Yorkshire's ethos is all about respecting tradition but doing things their own way – the style, taste and creation of Flagship truly brings this all to life.
Both experience and new drinkers will notice the nuanced and subtle flavours of the ex-Bourbon matured Flagship single malt whisky. Approachable and welcoming, this is a whisky suitable for everyone.
