Glen Garioch Distillery, pronounced "Glen Geery," is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, established in 1797. It is the most easterly distillery in Scotland, being located in Oldmeldrum. Originally founded by brothers John and Alexander Manson, the distillery has seen various ownership changes over the years, with Beam Suntory currently running the company.
Historically, Glen Garioch used lightly peated barley, giving its whiskies a subtle smokiness. In recent years, the distillery has shifted towards unpeated barley, focusing on other flavour characteristics. The distillery draws water from the nearby Silent Spring, distills the spirit in traditional copper pot stills, and ages it in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Only ever produced in small batches, Glen Garioch is warmly appreciated by those who like a hearty Highland malt.

First crafted in 1797 by the founders, this selection of non chill-filtered Glen Garish illustrates the distinct house character. Honey sweetness, hints of heather and just a touch of spice. Matured in ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks, and bottled at 48% ABV.

Nose - Warm amber in appearance, sweet vanilla and subtle spice combine with fruitier green apple and grapefruits on the nose.
Palate - Butter cream and vanilla pave the way to fruity green apple skin and citrus cleanliness, leading to an elegant and subtle finish.

1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
