Glenmorangie was founded in 1843 by brothers John and William Matheson in the town of Tain, in the
Highlands of Scotland. The distillery's site originally hosted a brewery, but the Matheson brothers converted it into a whisky distillery, using second-hand gin stills.
Originally operating as a small-scale distillery, Glenmorangie began to gain a good reputation by the late 19th century. The distillery underwent several ownership changes throughout the 20th century. In 1918, Macdonald and Muir acquired Glenmorangie, playing a crucial role in expanding the distillery's production capacity and market reach. Today, the company is operated by Moet Hennessy, who acquired the brand in 2004. Glenmorangie is famous for its exceptionally tall stills, which stand at 8 meters - some of the tallest in Scotland.
Described as an expression inspired by the universal beauty of sunsets, this whisky represents Dr. Bill's effort to capture that sense of warmth and radiance in liquid form.
Aged for 15 years in Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks, The Lasanta offers a complex balance of flavours, including notes of raisins, honey, toffee, clove, and cinnamon. The extended maturation enhances the signature rich spice and sweetness, creating greater depth, elegance, and harmony in its character.
