This bottling of Miltonduff is from the Infrequent Flyers range from The Alistair Walker Whisky Company, based in Falkirk, Central Scotland. With nearly 20 years of experience in the Scotch whisky industry, Alistair Walker made the decision to forge his own path as an independent bottler, establishing the company in 2018.
Independent bottlers, also known as merchant bottlers, have a long-standing tradition. They source whiskies from various distilleries across Scotland (and beyond), bottling the casks when they are ready. The company has no affiliation with any specific distillery, allowing them to freely source casks from a wide range of distilleries. This enables them to offer a diverse portfolio of whisky bottlings, showcasing the full spectrum of whisky flavors, aromas, and styles.
The ‘Infrequent Flyers’ range is a series of single cask bottlings of Scotch whiskies, sourced from the many distilleries throughout Scotland. A reference to the nature of many of the casks chosen, 'Infrequent Flyers' are often whiskies from lesser-known distilleries. These bottlings are of excellent quality but rarely or inconsistently available. Predominantly single malts and bottled in their most authentic form - un-chill filtered, at natural colour, and usually at cask strength.
This bottling has been distilled at Miltonduff Distillery, in the Speyside region. Distilled in 2012, and bottled at 11 years old. Matured in a Oloroso Puncheon, this is a single cask run of 651 bottles.

Colour - Auburn.
Nose - Floral, Barratt's Fruit Salad chews, June strawberries, soft vanilla fudge and Walnut Whip.
Taste - A tangy, caramelised fruitiness - baked cranberry and apricot pie. A deep heavy sweetness - Demerara sugar, sultanas and underlying Lyle's black treacle, with peanut brittle and ginger spice.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
