Owned by J & A Mitchell & Company, the distillery is one of the last surviving creators of single malt whiskies in Campbeltown. Unique to other Scottish distilleries, Springbank perform every step in the whisky making process, from malting the barley to bottling the spirit. The distillery now produces three different brands of peated and un-peated whisky, Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn.
First distilled in 1973, Longrow is a double-distilled, heavily peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The malt undergoes peat drying for up to 48 hours, imparting a unique Campbeltown smoky character to the whisky.
This is Longrow Peated, a whisky which offers those who enjoy a heavily peated whisky the chance to enjoy a lingering, smoky taste that travels through the senses, similar to how the smoke billows from a kiln. Longrow Peated is a non chill-filtered bottling.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Very creamy, vanilla custard. The smoke develops gradually, rather than overpowering the other aromas present. Toasted marshmallows, herbs and rich fruits appear over time.
Palate - Incredibly well balanced; rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint. The smoke is always present, washing over the palate in waves, like the soft billows of smoke from the Kiln.
Finish - The gentle smoke lingers and lingers leaving you yearning for more.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
