Monkey Shoulder
Blended Malt whisky is produced by William Grant & Sons. First introduced in 2003 primarily for mixing, Monkey Shoulder has become the third best-selling brand of Scotch whisky.
Originally, Monkey Shoulder was a blend of whiskies from Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Kininvie distilleries. We do not currently know the specific composition, but it predominantly consists of malt whiskies from the Speyside region of Scotland.
Monkey Shoulder finally found that the perfect formula to get the signature smooth blend of Speyside single malts that produce a complex array of delicious flavours. They realised that ‘three’ was the magic number, just enough to get the signature smooth and rich flavour from different malts whilst still being able to pick out individual flavour notes to pair.
This bottling is the original Monkey Shoulder. A blend of the finest single malt whiskies. Matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and blended in small batches for up to 6 months, then married to achieve a smoother, richer taste before bottling.
That smooth, malty and fruity character is bold enough to stand out in a drink and balanced enough not to overpower it. Notes of smooth vanilla, rich spices and fruity marmalade.
