During the 20th century, like many other Irish whiskey distilleries, Powers faced challenges due to economic downturns and shifts in the industry. In 1966, the distillery joined forces with other Irish whiskey producers to form the Irish Distillers Group. They consolidated production at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, where Powers continues to be produced.
Powers John's Lane Release is a celebration of the original style of Powers Whiskey and the quintessential Irish Single Pot Still distillate. Matured for 12 years, the result is an outstanding lingering robust taste. It provides a perfect tribute to the spiritual home of one of Ireland’s most loved whiskeys.

Nose - An abundance of earthy aromas, leather and tobacco with layers of charred wood, dark chocolate and treacle toffee.
Taste - Full bodied spice front followed by vanilla, honey and dried apricot.
Finish - Lingering honey sweetness on toasted oak.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
