Speyside Distillery, nestled within the Cairngorm Mountains, near the River Spey. Founded in 1956 by George Christie, the construction of the distillery began in the 1960s. It took over two decades to complete, and the distillery officially opened in 1990. The distillery uses water from the River Tromie, a tributary of the River Spey and operates using traditional copper pot stills.
The distillery released this bottling of Spey to celebrate the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2024. A peated 15 year old expression, fully matured in ex-bourbon casks and is a single cask of only 375 bottles at 46%.
This year, the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival marks a milestone of 25 years of celebrating the spirit that brings us together across the world. In honour of this event and the festival's rich history, the team at the distillery have released this limited edition, single cask bottling, capturing the quintessential Speyside Distillery single malt profile with a peated style.
This expression delicately balances floral characteristics, velvety textures with peat smoke, dried fruits, and warm spices. With a luscious sweetness reminiscent of figs and dates. An undertone of oak adds depth without overshadowing the inherent floral and fruity notes.
