Originally named “Maghellan”, Macallan was among the first distillers in Scotland to obtain legal licensing, Macallan has built its reputation on a product of outstanding quality and distinctive character. The distillery has a capacity of 15,000,000 litres produced by its 36 stills. Edrington currently owns Macallan, having acquired it from Highland Distillers in 1999.
The Macallan 15 Years Old - Double Cask is a balanced single malt whisky. Created by bringing the perfect harmony of two oaks into one exceptional single malt whisky. Sherry seasoned American oak adds delicate vanilla to the subtle spice of European oak, delivering a whisky with a sweeter, warmer taste and character.
Each expression within the Double Cask Collection is a complex sensorial journey. Beautifully balanced by European and American Oak, sherry seasoned in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. A taste characteristic of The Macallan portfolio, the apple takes centre stage, reminiscent of the great Flemish still life paintings from the 17th century.

Colour - Golden butterscotch.
Nose - Dried fruit and butterscotch with baked apples, balanced with notes of chocolate and smooth oak.
Palate - Sweet raisin and sultana builds with cinnamon and nutmeg, alongside creamy vanilla.
Finish - Medium with lingering oak and spice.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
