White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 and is located in Ambergate, Derbyshire. The brainchild of Max and Claire Vaughan, it is Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery, with a proud focus on the unique Derbyshire provenance and heritage. The building itself was an old wire works and is now part of a UNESCO world heritage site. They released their first single malt whisky in 2022. In addition to this, they produce Shining Cliff gin, a cask-aged rum, and the 1876 Single Malt Cocktail, all of which they mature, bottle, and label on site. As our closest distillery, we are proud to have been a supporter of White Peak since they were first established.
Wire Works Rum Cask Finish showcases a dual maturation process, starting with their lightly peated spirit aged in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. Afterward, it spends two years in fresh rum casks, crafted on-site and matured in their warehouse, delivering authentic Derbyshire provenance.
This vibrant single malt is bursting with tropical fruit flavours, that's beautifully balanced by the signature subtle smoke.

Official Tasting Notes
Sweet, juicy and oily, with vibrant tropical fruits such as pineapple, guava and papaya.
Nose - Jelly babies, icing sugar and grilled pineapple. With white chocolate, lemon meringue, vanilla cheesecake, cashews and strawberries and cream.
Palate - Crème Anglaise, guava and papaya, with ripe banana, a delicate peat-smoke, shortbread, lemon curd and fennel.
Finish - Rhubarb and custard and candied ginger, with orange marmalade and peppermint creams.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
