The distillery mainly produces spirit for blends, but Elixir are continuing to work to increase single malt production at Tormore in the future.
Created in 1968 by George Urquhart, the Connoisseurs Choice range has featured more than 2,000 bottlings from almost 100 Scottish distilleries. The label of each Connoisseurs Choice whisky narrates its story, including cask type, bottling date, strength, vintage, and tasting note. Gordon & MacPhail, drawing on four generations of the same family, uniquely crafts these rare single cask and small batch expressions. Applying their expertise in matching spirit to oak casks, these creations consistently remain non-chill-filtered.
Distilled in 2006, this edition of Tormore matured in a refill bourbon barrel for seventeen years. In January 2024, Gordon and MacPhail made the decision to bottle it, at a cask strength of 60.9% ABV. Bottling a whisky at cask strength means taking the whisky directly from the barrel without diluting it with water, boosting its alcohol content and intensifying its flavour and strength. A limited release of 211 bottles.

Vanilla pod and red apple aromas give way to milk chocolate and malted biscuit. Smooth flavours of toasted almonds and seville orange. A medium-bodied finish with spice and aniseed.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
