Kilchoman Distillery is located on the Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. Established in 2005 by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman is one of the smallest distilleries on the island. They operate as a farm distillery, meaning that they grow a portion of their barley on-site, making them one of the few distilleries in Scotland to do so. This allows them to have greater control over the entire whisky-making process, from barley cultivation to bottling.
Known for their peated whiskies, the distillery crafts their whisky using locally sourced barley and traditional floor malting techniques. Their whiskies often give a bold, smoky character, like most Islay drams, along with layers of complexity and depth.
Created from the same recipe of casks as the regular Sanaig release. Kilchoman matured the Sanaig Cask Strength primarily in oloroso sherry casks. Rather than adding water after selecting and vatting the casks, this limited edition has been bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.8% ABV.
The result is an intense combination of rich peat smoke, cinnamon sweetness, and stoned fruits. With waves of citrus, mixed spices, and dark chocolate.

Nose - Toffee sweetness and dark fruits with red berries and smoked oak.
Palate - Intense sweetness and spiced dark chocolate with raisins, liquorice and warming rich peat smoke.
Finish - Lingering sweetness and spices with integrated smoke throughout.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
