Built for the sole intention of handcrafting the finest English Single Malt, at the time of the distillery's completion, it was
England's first whisky distillery in over 100 years. King Charles III officially opened the distillery in March 2007.
The English Distillery offer whiskies of a wide range of flavours. They produce both peated and un-peated whiskies and also use a variety of different casks for certain releases. They have whisky maturing in their warehouses to last 40 years. Alongside the single malts, they also produce a range of whisky liqueurs.
The English Smokey is aged to perfection in specially selected casks. This is a non-chill filtered, peated (45ppm) single malt whisky. There's a lovely waft of smoke on the palate, making this is an ideal alternative dram for a fan of Islay whiskies.
Official Tasting Notes
This bottling has a gentle aroma with hints of vanilla, aniseed and ginger, along with a creamy palate, a little peat initially and then the smoke bomb! The finish is long, spicy and smokey.
