Osprey is a range of single malt scotch whiskies, created by Aceo Spirits. Founded in 1999 by Edward Odim at Hillside Farm in Rodley, Gloucestershire, Aceo is now based in West Lothian. The River Spey flows through Speyside, a region known for its concentration of whisky distilleries and as a habitat for the osprey. Once absent from the area for several decades, ospreys have successfully re-established themselves and are now a regular presence. Osprey Single Malt Scotch Whisky takes its name from the bird and is intended to reflect qualities associated with it. The team selects specific casks to create a range that represents the character and quality of Scotch whisky.
This edition of Osprey uses spirit from Braeval Distillery. Originally known as Braes of Glenlivet Distillery, Braeval Distillery stands in Chapeltown, Banffshire, in Scotland’s Speyside region. Built in 1973 by Chivas Brothers to supply malts for blends, the decision to change the name to Braeval came in 1994, to avoid any confusion with the nearby Glenlivet Distillery. Chivas Brothers still owns the distillery today, operating as a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard.
Created in mighty copper stills, this Braevel bottling matured in luxurious Oloroso Sherry casks for 10 years. Cocoa and stewed fruits soar from the glass with flavours of walnuts, dates and allspice, that hover elegantly on the palate with every savoured sip.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
