John Steward and Robert Robertson founded the distillery in 1798, but it has passed through several owners over the years. Formed in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, the Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company offers a great range of small batch independent bottlings. They bottle one cask at a time, capitalising on the unique colour and flavour characteristics of each individual cask. They source all-natural malts from the best distilleries in Scotland, selecting the best single batches and bottling only the finest casks within those batches.
This bottling is edition #9 of Signatory's 100 Proof Exceptional Casks series. The spirit used for this bottling of Blair Athol was distilled in 2007. Matured in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads for 17 years. Bottled at 57.1% ABV, un-chillfiltered and retaining its natural colour.
