Kilchoman Distillery is located on the Isle of
Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. Established in 2005 by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman is one of the smallest distilleries on the island. They operate as a farm distillery, meaning that they grow a portion of their barley on-site, making them one of the few distilleries in Scotland to do so. This allows them to have greater control over the entire whisky-making process, from barley cultivation to bottling.
Known for their peated whiskies, the distillery crafts their whisky using locally sourced barley and traditional floor malting techniques. Their whiskies often give a bold, smoky character, like most Islay drams, along with layers of complexity and depth.
Kilchoman Port Cask was aged for the full term of its maturation in refilled Ruby Port hogshead. Matured for a minimum of six years and bottled at 50% ABV to keep a high level of concentration. Layers of red berries and smoked meats to the natural maritime peat smoke and citrus sweetness of
Kilchoman's spirit.
This limited release is the third Kilchoman Port Cask, the first being in 2014, and the second in 2018.
Official Tasting Notes
