Old Raj Gin is made by Cadenhead's, Scotland’s oldest independent bottler. Founded in 1842, since 1972, they have been based in Campbeltown - the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula. They specialise in bottling single cask or small batch whisky, gin, rum, cognac, and other spirits from across Scotland and around the world.
The company was originally based in Aberdeen until 1972 when it was bought by J&A Mitchell & Co. Ltd, who also own Springbank and Glengyle Distilleries in Campbeltown. Today, they focus on keeping things natural, no chill filtering and never adding colouring or additives of any kind. Thus allowing the true distillery character to shine through.
Cadenhead's have been bottling Old Raj Gin in Campbeltown since 1972. Old Raj is distinctive in that it contains a measure of saffron, the rare and costly spice derived from the crocus flower, which imparts a pale yellow colour to them. This is a classic Juniper forward gin with the addition of saffron post distillation. This version is bottled at the higher than normal strength of 46% ABV.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
