Rittenhouse Rye is made at Heaven Hill Distillery, located in Bardstown,
Kentucky. Founded in 1935 by several investors, including the Shapira brothers, the company remains privately owned.
After the end of the Prohibition in 1934, The Continental Distilling Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania introduced Rittenhouse Square Straight Rye Whisky. Inspired by the famous Square, this 100 proof, 2-year-old rye whisky offered a rich, full-bodied and mellow profile. In 1948, they dropped 'Square' from the name and reintroduced the whisky as a 4-year-old Bottled-in-Bond.
In 1993, Heaven Hill purchased the brand and kept it alive during a time when the popularity of whisky was in decline. Today, the popularity of rye whiskey is rising, and this whisky continues to gains new fans.
Rittenhouse Straight Rye Whisky has a storied past with a heritage that commemorates Philadelphia's famous Rittenhouse Square. Bottled in Bond, today's Rittenhouse carries the distinct, spicy flavour that is long associated with the brand. Rittenhouse is the Rye Whisky of choice for both mixologists and whisky aficionados alike.
