After the end of the Prohibition in 1934, The Continental Distilling Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania introduced Rittenhouse Square Straight Rye Whisky. In 1948, they dropped 'Square' from the name and reintroduced the whisky as a 4-year-old Bottled-in-Bond.
In 1993, Heaven Hill purchased the brand and kept it alive during a time when the popularity of whisky was in decline. Today, the popularity of rye whiskey is rising, and this whisky continues to gains new fans.
